Soft lines and curves share space with a powder-like organic surface while angles and sterling silver rivets hold, layer, and balance the elegance of this design. A natural patina enhances the textural and linear shape completing the piece. [Back] A custom fabricated pin catch and joint of sterling silver are functional and fitting to the form; pin stem is stainless steel. 2 1/4” x 1 5/8” x 5/8”

Shibuichi is a Japanese alloy. It's name translates to “one fourth,” which refers to 25% silver and 75% copper. I create Shibuichi by calculating metal proportions, melting and pouring the combined metals into an ingot mold, and milling the ingot to sheet or wire by using a rolling mill. Historically, Shibuichi was used to make ornaments for the katana - Samurai sword.
