A powder-like organic surface and soft corners hold a series of design elements along side a hammer texture, small dome, and natural breaks in the surface. A patina enhances the negative space, textural sheet and linear shape. Shibuichi is a Japanese alloy. It's name translates to “one fourth,” which refers to 25% silver and 75% copper. I create Shibuichi by calculating metal proportions, melting and pouring the combined metals into an ingot mold, and milling the ingot to sheet or wire by using a rolling mill. Historically, Shibuichi was used to make ornaments for the katana - Samurai sword.
